Eyed by Exodus
An interesting event on Wednesday night.
Deviating again from the serious tone of my last post.
I wound up going out to a club to catch Exodus, a 80s metal band. Exodus produced Metallica with their Guitarist Kirk Hammett, once they parted ways with co-founder Dave Mustaine. That and the song "Toxic Waltz" were the bands claim to fame. Usually lumped in with most other 80s metal bands, and overlooked except by those of us who follow that sort of music, it would be easy to skip out on a show on a Wednesday night.

As it turns out, it was a good decision to get out and see Exodus. There were a couple of local bands opening up, nothing exceptionally interesting to note other than I saw the second band in the parking lot working on some things just before they took the stage. They needed the practice, not terrible but not quite ready for a headlining tour - lets leave it at that.

It was during this bands performance while wandering around still scoping out the action in the club where the strangest thing happens. This dude come over like he knows me "Hey man, whats up Dreads!" I was like thinking this is a dude I have run into up here before, cant say I know him, but that is not unusual I have met many people while out drinking who I cant recall later on.
It gets really scary when Women approach me all friendly like and I cant rememeber them at all, you can imagine as I begin to wonder "did I??" Yikes.
So anyways this dude is like trying to figure out where he knows me from. We we playing the guessing game, "did I see you here for Cannibal Corpse??" No. "The Clutch show??" No.
"Not even from around here, huh. From the West Coast - yeah I been to Tampa - no the OTHER west coast... nah I never been there...."

"OK must be I just LOOK like someone you know."

So that was the end of that I thought, then I went in and saw Exodus take the stage, and theres those dudes. OK so that was the band. My bad, I didnt recoginze them, gotta say thats pretty cool, normally even lesser-known celebs get all insulted when people dont recognize them. Guess its not as common in the Metal world. Besides most metal fans dont get all whippie whippie hoo-ha over meeting the dudes.

Well Exodus rocked and put on a killer show. Ending it with AC/DCs "Dirty Deeds" just blowing the roof of the joint (and after seeing that I was wondering why they didnt play MORE AC/DC cuz damn they did a KILLER AC/DC!!!).
Unlike more pretentious rock "stars", these were just regular guys who blended right in with the Local Metalheads. So they were right back to hanging out after their set.
I immediately sought out the drummer, who "recognized" me.
I approached him with the "Well now I know where I KNOW YOU FROM!" Very nice guy indeed, still insisting that he KNEW me from somewhere. I then gave the whole band props for a good show, and wished them the best.

Still I have to say its pretty cool that a celebrity recognized me,

even if it wasnt me!
